Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Acute Leukemia and Hematology
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Job Description
- Provide nursing care primarily for newly diagnosed adult and geriatric acute leukemia patients.
- Work 12-hour day/night or 12-hour night shifts with rotating schedule based on unit needs.
- Staffing ratios goal: 1:4, can be 1:5.
- Schedule is self-scheduled with no set/blocked scheduling; requests accommodated before finalizing.
- Orientation includes one week of Monday-Friday day shifts and a second week with 36 hours of on-unit preceptor orientation.
- Shift assignments reviewed every 4 weeks; changes based on staffing priorities.
- Special focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Skills and clinical competencies:
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias.
- Feeding tube care and management.
- PICC line management.
Patient Population
- Adults and geriatrics with acute leukemia and hematology diagnoses.
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, fingerprinting (BCI & FBI), and education accreditation verification.
- Physical exam documentation within one year of start.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine (adult dose)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency within 1 year of start.
- Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership.
Orientation & Scheduling
- Orientation: 1 week of day shifts (Mon-Fri), followed by 36 hours on-unit with preceptor.
- Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts (days/nights), self-scheduling with flexibility.
- Weekend shifts variable based on unit needs.
Notes
- No chemotherapy certification required.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Heavy emphasis on infection prevention and patient safety.
- Must comply with all facility-specific policies including dress code, hand hygiene, and compliance training.
