Job Opportunity: Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse - Nights

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

• Night shift
• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
• No on-call required
• Patient ratio approximately 1:1 to 1:2

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred (not required)

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA only)
• ACLS (AHA only)
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification
• Additional certifications may be required based on unit

Required Skills

• Proficient in IV starts
• Experience with telemetry
• Competency with ventilators
• EPIC documentation system experience required

Licensure

• Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check including FBI and state fingerprinting (BCI/FBI) required prior to start
• Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start
• Required to complete monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
• Annual background check required by agency
• Must complete and sign facility-specific policies including dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance
• Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and annually thereafter

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
• TB questionnaire required annually
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
• Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
• Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemption allowed with documentation)
• Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but recommended

Competency Exams

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
• Unit-specific competency exam required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and annually thereafter (with remediation process if needed)

References and Documentation

• Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership
• Employment application required including education details
• Skills checklist required

Additional Notes

• Fingerprinting must be completed using specific state codes and within 1 year of start
• Candidates with gaps in employment over 30 days may require updated health documents and background checks
• Facility-specific forms and acknowledgments must be reviewed and signed prior to start

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with EPIC documentation system

This position is ideal for experienced ICU nurses comfortable with night shifts, EPIC documentation, and ventilator management, seeking a travel contract in Ohio.
