Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Critical Care Unit (CCU)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Unit: Critical Care Unit (CCU) with focus on Cardiac Care (CCU, CVICU)
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, rotating between day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Rotation: Shift rotations every 2 to 4 weeks; preference for night shifts may reduce rotation frequency
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Float Requirement: Must float to other ICU or Intermediate Care units within the same acuity level
- Patient Population: Medical cardiology and advanced heart failure patients, including those with life-support devices, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, and post-interventional cardiology procedures
- Orientation: Flexible hours; device certifications offered during contract
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
Required Skills
- 12-lead EKG acquisition
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
- Continuous IV sedation
- Emergency medication administration
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Care of ventilated patients, including ventilator management and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions (PPE use)
- Phlebotomy
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia
- Minimum 2 years of Coronary Care Unit (CCU) experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Proficient in arterial line management
- Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Experience in care of ventilated patients, including ventilator management and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
Additional Information
- Must be flexible with rotating shifts and floating to other units as needed
- Orientation and ongoing training provided, including device certifications
- Charting system used: Cerner
- Scrubs: Not provided (color: Ceil Blue)
- Parking: Available (cost applies)
