Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Critical Care Unit (CCU)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Unit: Critical Care Unit (CCU) with focus on Cardiac Care (CCU, CVICU)
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, rotating between day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Rotation: Shift rotations every 2 to 4 weeks; preference for night shifts may reduce rotation frequency
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: Must float to other ICU or Intermediate Care units within the same acuity level
• Patient Population: Medical cardiology and advanced heart failure patients, including those with life-support devices, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, and post-interventional cardiology procedures
• Orientation: Flexible hours; device certifications offered during contract
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2

Required Skills

• 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• Central line care and management
• Continuous IV sedation
• Emergency medication administration
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Care of ventilated patients, including ventilator management and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions (PPE use)
• Phlebotomy

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia
• Minimum 2 years of Coronary Care Unit (CCU) experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Proficient in arterial line management
• Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience in care of ventilated patients, including ventilator management and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)

• Must be flexible with rotating shifts and floating to other units as needed
• Orientation and ongoing training provided, including device certifications
• Charting system used: Cerner
• Scrubs: Not provided (color: Ceil Blue)
