• Shift: Medical-Surgical Days
• Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours
• Start Date: ASAP
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
• Float Requirement: Yes, within scope
• On Call: None
• Block Scheduling: Case by case
• Unit Size: 32 beds
• Documentation System: EPIC
• Scrub Color: Any (no hospital logos)
• First Time Travelers: Accepted
• Local Travelers: Not accepted

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Certifications & Licenses

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required as applicable
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - required as applicable
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - required as applicable
• CHEMO certification - required as applicable
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required as applicable
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - preferred/required as applicable
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - required as applicable
• NIH Stroke Certification - required as applicable (expires annually)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Adult Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
• Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B as per facility policy
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, fingerprinting (fingerprinting completed onsite during orientation)
• Education verification and license primary source verification required
• Photo for badge required
• Skills checklist and work history verification required annually

• Float within scope of practice is required
• Orientation and training include fingerprint clearance before working on unit
• Case-by-case block scheduling flexibility
• Color blind testing and medication/pharmacology competency exams may be required
• References and employment application required internally for credentialing purposes

This position is suitable for Medical-Surgical RNs with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable with weekend shifts and floating within their scope. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
