Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years of experience, specializing in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics. This role involves working primarily with adult and geriatric patient populations in critical care settings.


Schedule

  • Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Required to float to other units or campuses as needed, limited to areas where qualified and competent.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Trauma Level 1 experience required.
  • Proficient in Adult Critical Care.
  • Skilled in extubation, nasal and oral airway placement, suctioning, pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy care.
  • Experienced in administering respiratory medications including albuterol, Atrovent, combivent, flovent, inhaled steroids, ispurel, lidocaine, perforomist, pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, spiriva, terbutaline sulfate, tobramycin, and xopenex.
  • Competent in delivering medication via aerosol setup mask, trach, Medihaler, and Metered Dose Inhaler.
  • Experience with handheld, T-piece, and trach collar nebulizers.
  • Skilled in high flow nasal cannula and trach collar oxygen therapy.
  • Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience with EPIC electronic charting system.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license for South Carolina required (no pending licenses accepted).
  • Required certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with adult patients
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • Proficiency in extubation and nasal airway placement
  • Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • Experience with EPIC electronic charting system

Compliance & Documentation

Candidates must provide and maintain the following:

  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work (I9, Driver’s License/State ID).
  • Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting if applicable.
  • Education verification and licensure primary source verification.
  • Required health documents including physical exam, immunizations (Tetanus, TB, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella), drug testing, and flu vaccination or approved exemption.
  • Completion of required online orientation modules and pass/fail testing prior to start.
  • Annual competencies and training including medication/pharmacology competency exams and core safety training.
  • Badge photo meeting facility specifications.
  • Floating policy acknowledgment.

Notes

  • Respirator fit testing will be completed onsite during orientation.
  • Facility is latex-free; candidates with latex allergies are acceptable.
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete required online modules and testing within specified timeframes before starting.
  • This position requires adherence to strict compliance and documentation standards.
