Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Home Health)

Location: Elizabeth, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

Seeking a Home Health Registered Nurse to provide care across three counties: Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan. The role involves home health visits focused on general assessments, patient education, caregiver teaching, and monitoring of illnesses. The nurse will also provide wound care and IV infusion as needed.

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• Mostly adult patients, occasional pediatrics
• Post-COVID pneumonia
• Wound care
• IV antibiotics
• Congestive heart failure (CHF) exacerbation
• COPD exacerbation
• Post-operative joint replacement

Typical Daily Workload

• Approximately 6 routine visits per day
• Visits include start of care (SOC), recertifications, and OASIS assessments
• Goal of about 30 visits per week

Schedule & On-Call Requirements

• Office hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Patients mostly seen during office hours, with some evening and weekend visits as needed
• On-call rotation averages about 5 nights per month (weekends and weeknights)
• On-call duties may include meeting patients discharged late from hospital or answering patient questions by phone
• Holiday coverage shared evenly among staff

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• BLS issued by American Heart Association

Equipment & Supplies

• Usual respiratory therapy equipment in homes includes oxygen, nebulizers, and sometimes CPAP or BiPAP machines

Additional Information

• No additional utilization review or administrative duties
• Home health aides available during weekdays
• Orientation includes computer training and field orientation by experienced staff
• Dress code: Royal blue scrubs

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 2 years of Home Health nursing experience
• Home Health nursing experience within the last year
• Experience working in a Home Health setting
