Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PICU

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with recent Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) experience. This is a travel contract position with weekend and floating requirements.


Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of recent CVPICU (Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Work Schedule & Orientation

  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend
  • Floating to other units as needed
  • Orientation occurs bi-weekly

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete background checks including education verification and various federal/state screenings within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam required within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
  • Drug screening (10 panel) within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Polio
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually during flu season (October through March)
  • Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (one must be a supervisor)
  • Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually
  • Must set up a guest account prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems

Additional Notes

  • Local candidates within 75 miles are eligible
  • First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete required online modules and competency exams prior to or during orientation
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided during orientation if applicable
