Job Opportunity: Radiation Oncology Physicist

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Seeking a Medical Physicist to work 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
Key responsibilities include:

• Brachytherapy procedures
• Machine and treatment plan quality assurance (QA)

Special equipment experience preferred:

• CyberKnife
• Radixact
• Elekta Versa
• RayStation
• HDR

Experience with EPIC system is required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiation Therapist license in Kentucky
• Minimum 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
• Experience as a Medical Physicist

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
• Education verification matching specialty required (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification unavailable)
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
• Fit test for respiratory protection, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documentation required:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or IgG titer required, no declinations accepted
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or IgG titer required, no declinations accepted
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination required
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption

Certifications (as applicable)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA only
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA only
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA only
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – AAP only
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) – as required by unit
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) – as required by specialty

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references required (one for non-clinical)
• Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-clinical)
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
• Photo for badge with specific guidelines (clear, no filters, solid background)

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Driver’s license required only if driving is a major job function.
• Background check hits may require additional work history verification.

This position offers an opportunity to work with advanced radiation oncology technology in a travel contract role. Candidates must meet all licensure, certification, and health compliance requirements prior to start.
