Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Columbus, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience. Candidates with no prior travel experience are accepted.


Patient Population

  • Infants to Geriatrics (Primarily adult patients, but will work with pediatric intubated patients)

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Georgia RRT License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an RRT (Respiratory Therapist)
  • Trauma experience required
  • Pulmonary function testing (Spirometry) preferred
  • Skilled in managing non-invasive ventilation, conventional ventilation, aerosol therapy, bedside pulmonary function tests
  • Able to perform arterial lines, oxygen management, patient education, arterial and capillary blood gases, and draws from lines

Work Environment

  • Level 2 trauma center with interventional stroke certification
  • Level 3 NICU and regional transport resource for NICU
  • Floating within facility and sister campus as needed
  • No call requirements
  • Weekend shifts every other weekend
  • Expected to work major holidays if they fall during the assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)

Orientation & Compliance

  • Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length

Required Pre-Employment & Ongoing Compliance Documents

  • Background check (must be completed prior to start)
  • Education verification (degree related to specialty)
  • State license verification (Georgia RRT license)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • TB questionnaire (updated annually)
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Skills checklist within 12 months
  • Work history verification
  • Two clinical references

Additional Requirements

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam
  • Color blind testing (with alternative evaluation if needed)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (if applicable)
  • Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policy acknowledgment

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
  • Floating may include working at a sister campus.
  • Candidates must be prepared to work assigned holidays as outlined.
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers.
