Job Opportunity: RN Supervisor

Location: Fairview, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 15 weeks

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced RN Supervisor to oversee nursing staff in a long-term care/skilled nursing facility with 300 beds across 6 units. This role involves supervising floor nurses (RNs, LPNs) and CNAs during evenings, nights, and weekends. The RN Supervisor is not assigned direct resident care but acts as a resource and leader on the floor.

Facility & Unit Details

• Facility Type: Long-Term Care / Skilled Nursing Facility (LTC/SNF)
• Total Beds: 300 (divided into 6 units)
• Units include secure dementia and rehab units
• EMR System: PCC
• Nurse Staffing:

  • Days: 3 Nurse Managers covering 2 units each (Mon-Fri), 1 Nurse Manager on weekends
  • Evenings: 1 RN Supervisor plus charge and med/treatment nurses per unit
  • Nights: 1 RN Supervisor (as staffing allows) plus floor nurses per unit
• Majority of floor nurses are LPNs

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• BLS Certification
• Prior experience with PCC EMR system
• Experience measuring wounds (nurses measure only; staging done by NP)
• Ability to perform central line care, chest tube care/management, IV starts, admission orders, and fall assessments
• Comfortable managing residents with LTC, skilled, rehab, dementia, and hospice care (18+ years old)
• Experience with IV medications such as Lasix, Bumex, and antibiotics

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise nursing staff and oversee building operations during assigned shifts
• Monitor resident conditions and address issues promptly
• Schedule and coordinate outside services (labs, portable x-rays, etc.)
• Communicate with physicians and nurse practitioners as needed
• Participate in care plan meetings, especially for short-term stay residents
• Access emergency drug closet when pharmacy is closed
• Ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures

Work Schedule & Environment

• Shift Length: 8.25 hours (includes 30-minute unpaid lunch)
• Shifts: Evenings, nights, and weekends
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, with option for more
• Holiday Requirement: Yes, scheduled in advance
• No call or standby required
• No floating; position covers entire building
• Dress Code: Clean, professional scrubs (any color except camo)
• Orientation: 3 days, unit-specific

Additional Information

• No respiratory therapist on-site; residents may use CPAP, BiPAP, oxygen, nebulizers, tracheostomy care (no ventilators)
• Pharmacy available weekdays during business hours
• Interdisciplinary team includes PT, OT, SLP, case managers, social workers, and dieticians
• Physician and NP available by phone after hours through supervisory staff
