Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Outpatient

Location: Brookings, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday
  • Mix of outpatient services in Brookings and support in Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) and inpatient settings
  • Provide outpatient physical therapy services in Brookings and California
  • Additional inpatient coverage needed for weekends
  • Responsibilities include assessing, planning, organizing, and participating in rehabilitative programs to improve patient mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and correct disabling conditions from disease or injury
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety
  • Provide clinical supervision of assistants and aides, and serve as clinical instructor for assigned students

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in Oregon
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist
  • Physical Therapist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification

Certifications & Licensure

  • Physical Therapist license valid in the state of Oregon (and California for some outpatient services)
  • BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on assignment specifics (verify with recruiter)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
  • Various federal and state screenings including EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, and others as applicable
  • Education verification required (highest level achieved)
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids for CA work)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (exceptions may apply)
  • Immunizations and health screenings required, including but not limited to:
    • TB screening and questionnaire (annual renewal)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
  • Respiratory safety clearance prior to start (not required for all roles)

Documentation & Compliance

  • Must provide full 7 years of work history with no gaps
  • Unit-specific skills checklist may be required and renewed annually
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
  • References: 2 professional references required for clinical roles (within last 3 years)

Additional Notes

  • Candidate may be required to provide clinical supervision and serve as a clinical instructor
  • Adherence to privacy and safety regulations is mandatory
  • Religious exemptions for certain requirements (e.g., facial hair for fit testing, vaccine exemptions) may be considered on a case-by-case basis with proper documentation
