Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Conyers, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Unit Details

• Respiratory Care Services include evaluation and treatment of cardiopulmonary function and impairment.
• Care settings include Emergency Department, ICU/CCU, PACU, and Level III nursery.
• Respiratory Care Practitioners attend all high-risk C-sections and deliveries to manage neonatal airway per protocol.
• Responsible for airway management and ventilatory support during resuscitations.
• All care is provided under licensed physician supervision.
• Patient care decisions are based on assessment data and diagnostic information analysis.

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Weekend shifts: Every other weekend
• No on-call required
• Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
• Holidays: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if 2 holidays, expected to work both; if 3 holidays, expected to work 2 of them.
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty
• First-time travel Respiratory Therapists are accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Must hold a current Georgia State Respiratory Therapist license (RRT)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., EFM for fetal monitoring)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
• Diplomas/transcripts required for RRT credential verification
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if history of positive TB)
• Drug screening (10-panel) within 60 days of start, negative results required before start
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer or declination)
  • Tdap (highly recommended)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
• References: 2 clinical references required

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year

Additional Notes

• Orientation hours vary based on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
• Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in assignment start delays
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Color blindness testing required; alternative assessments available if needed
• Competency exams required for certain skills (e.g., Dysrhythmia/EKG competency for specific units)
