Job Opportunity: RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant)

Location: Wesley Chapel, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Unit handles elective cases from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Weekend Call Required: Saturday-Sunday, 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM for a 6-week schedule (approximately 10 days of call)
  • On-call Required: Monday-Friday 5:00 PM to 6:30 AM, plus weekend call as above
  • Shift Length: 8 or 10 hour shifts, 40 hours per week guaranteed
  • Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
  • Local candidates accepted within 75-100 miles radius
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Facility Type: Long Term Acute Care
  • Total Staffed Beds: 86

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of RNFA experience required (first-timers accepted if proficient)
  • Experience in General Surgery, XI/D5 Robot, Urology, Spine, Orthopedic, Plastic, Podiatry, Vascular surgeries
  • Circulate and scrub experience required
  • Charting experience and community hospital experience required
  • Experience with robotic surgery equipment and tables including:
    • Laser, DaVinci Xi Robot
    • Spine Table, Beach Chair, Urology Table
    • Microscope, Fracture Table, Hana Table

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required
  • COVID-19 vaccination required (medical or religious exemptions accepted)

Additional Requirements

  • Driver’s License required and must remain current throughout assignment
  • Background checks including education verification, fingerprinting (Florida AHCA Level II), and other standard screenings required
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start date
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start date
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug testing: Standard 9-panel within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Respirator medical clearance if respirator use is required
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours)
  • Professional photo for badge required prior to start
  • References: 2 professional references from within the last 2 years required
  • Employment application and skills checklist must be submitted

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Elective surgical cases during daytime hours
  • Call coverage on weekends and nights as specified
  • No floating outside of RNFA scope
  • Block scheduling may be discussed during interview

Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation and training prior to start
  • Facility is accommodating with Return to Work (RTO) requests but no guarantees
  • Parking included

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Urology, with at least 1 year of recent Urology experience
  • Experience in Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, and Vascular Surgery
  • Robotic surgery experience
  • Scrub experience
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
