Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse
Location: Camden, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 15 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM), including holidays as needed
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Unit Beds: 54
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, may need to float within scope to like units or sister facilities
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

- First-time travelers: Accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs
- Local candidates: Accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Block schedule: Approval can be requested but not guaranteed

- Parking: Free in unrestricted spaces
- Hurricane Season: June through November; employees may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Must include SSN trace, county/state/national criminal checks, sex offender registry, and FACIS 3
- Completed within 90 days of start
- Education Verification: Required
- References: Minimum 2 clinical references, including at least one from the unit of assignment
- Employment History: Last 3 clinical employers verified
- Physical Exam: Must be current within 90 days, confirming ability to work without restrictions
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Immunizations & Health:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titers or vaccination series required
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations)
- COVID-19 vaccines highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with solid light background, frontal view, shoulders up
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules required prior to start
- Modules typically take 2-6 hours depending on location
- Must upload required vaccination documentation into facility system prior to orientation
- Fit testing for masks will be done onsite during orientation
Notes
- Candidates must have all required licenses and certifications current and valid at start
- Certifications expiring within 30 days of start must be renewed prior to assignment
- Facility may require floating to other units as needed within scope of practice
- Travelers should consider hurricane season timing before accepting assignment
