Job Opportunity: PCU/Tele Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Dededo, Guam
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Telemetry
  • Level of Care: Primarily PCU with telemetry; may include ICU and PCU care as needed
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4-5
  • Shift: Assigned to primarily one shift (day or night); no shift preference requests allowed
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, flexible to support unit needs
  • Holidays: Working holidays is mandatory; specific dates determined by unit needs
  • Overtime: Not guaranteed; at management discretion
  • Floating: Must be willing to float within scope to Med-Surg and ED Tele overflow; no ICU care outside scope
  • Locals: Candidates residing in Guam are not eligible
  • Passport: Current US passport required at time of application (Canadian passports not accepted)
  • Travel: Flights are not reimbursed; candidates should plan accordingly

Required Qualifications

  • License: Compact or Guam RN license in hand at time of application (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience required; 3-5 years preferred
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (American Heart Association provider card required; instructor cards not accepted)
    • BLS (American Heart Association provider card required)
  • Additional Certifications: May be required depending on unit (e.g., NIH Stroke Scale, Pressure Injury Training, Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis CareFusion)
  • Testing: Must pass onsite drug calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) exams during orientation (pen and paper format)
  • Background Checks: 7-year background check within 1 year of start, including criminal and nationwide sex offender searches
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year (facility does not require but Aya does)
    • Fit test for approved masks within 1 year prior to start
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu, and COVID-19 (facility strongly prefers full COVID vaccination; declinations require facility-specific exemption forms)
    • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)

Additional Information

  • References: 2 professional references required for travel/allied/per diem acute care roles
  • Work History: Verification of last 10 years required; attestations accepted if verification unavailable
  • Orientation: Candidates must complete facility-specific nursing modules (8-12 hours) prior to start
  • Schedule Time Off (RTO): Must be approved and included in contract before start; max 3 consecutive days per 2 weeks, max 7 total days
  • Uniform: Navy blue preferred; any solid color acceptable for scrubs outside Cath Lab/OR/PACU
  • Charting System: Allscripts/Sunrise
  • Parking: Free with registration and decal

Important Notes

  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment
  • Candidates must be prepared to pick up additional shifts as needed due to census fluctuations
  • Travelers should plan to arrive at least one day before the start date due to long flight times and time zone differences
  • On-call is not required for this position

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with PCU/Telemetry skills who are flexible, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced acute care environment in Guam.
