Job Description

• Float shift required to NICU (training provided). Also float to Labor & Delivery and Postpartum as support.
• Every third weekend required.
• Unit includes 4 PICU beds and 8 convertible beds (monitored or pediatrics).
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: PICU 1:2, Pediatrics 1:3-4.
• Self-scheduling with manager approval; block scheduling allowed but must work assigned weekends.
• No PCAs on unit; total patient care required.
• Care for COVID patients on the unit.
• Equipment experience: CPAP, Vapo, high flow oxygen.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Jersey.
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience working with pediatric patients.

Additional Information

• Floating to NICU is mandatory; training provided.
• Floating to Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units is occasional and supportive.
• Must be willing to work every third weekend.
• No patient care assistants on the unit; full patient care responsibilities.
• COVID patients are cared for on this unit.
• Self-scheduling with final approval by manager; block scheduling possible.
• Must complete facility-specific learning modules and pass post-tests prior to start.
• Pass/fail testing onsite with one attempt allowed; failure results in contract cancellation.

Summary

This is a travel contract Registered Nurse position in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit requiring at least 2 years of PICU experience, current NJ RN licensure, and certifications including BLS, PALS, and NRP. The role involves floating to NICU (mandatory), Labor & Delivery, and Postpartum units, with weekend work every third weekend. Candidates must meet extensive health, background, and competency requirements prior to start.
