Job Description

• ICU nurse with patient ratios of 1:3 in ICU and 1:4 in stepdown units
• Preferred prior experience in CCU/ICU
• Skills required:

  • Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • Management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• EMR system used: Cerner PowerChart
• Medication system: Omnicell
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
• Float required
• No holiday time off requests accommodated during specified holidays

Required Certifications

• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for all RN candidates

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Proficient in ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Skilled in continuous IV sedation
• Experienced in management and interpretation of dysrhythmias

Required Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher within 12 months of start)
• Core Competency Exams Part I, II, and III (minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually)
• Color Blind Testing (Ishihara test or equivalent within 12 months)

Required Licenses and Verifications

• Valid Tennessee RN license (must be current and verifiable within 30 days of start)
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
• Background check completed within 45 days of start, including 7-year history and alias name attestation if applicable

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA
• Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year of start; chest x-ray if prior positive
• Drug screening within 45 days of start (specific panel required)
• Required immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B series or declination
  • Varicella
  • Flu vaccine required for starts on or after 9/8/2025 (no declinations accepted; exemptions require documentation)

Additional Requirements

• Two supervisory references from the past 3 years
• Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days
• Unit-specific skills checklist updated within the last year
• Photo for badge with solid background, no filters or facial piercings
