Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: Valdosta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Description

• Unit: Medical and Surgical ICU (MSICU)
• Patient Age Groups: Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics
• Float Required: Float between CPU, PCU, MS/Tele units (max 4 patients)
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Patient Diagnoses: Medical ICU and surgical ICU patients except cardiac and occasional pediatrics; includes post code, post stroke, TPA, respiratory failure, dialysis
• Medication System: Omnicell
• Documentation System: EPIC

Schedule

• Shift Options: 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts with incremental hour limits per 2-week period
• Guaranteed Hours: 36-48 hours per week depending on shift length

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Required Documents & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License/State ID
• Social Security Card
• Background Check (within 30 days of start) including SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search
• Official Transcript or Diploma copy
• Physical Exam (within 1 year)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
• Immunizations:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, completed series, or signed declination)
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (including THC)
• Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required
• Photo for badge (passport style, white background)
• Facility-specific documents including job description, handbook, dress code acknowledgment, confidentiality agreement, drug and alcohol policy, first day info, scrub info, and various study guides for exams (EKG, medication, critical care)
• Pass/Fail Testing: Medication exam, EKG exam, and Critical Care exam required at orientation with two attempts allowed

• Facility sensitive to DNRs; may be redirected
• Competency exams required per agency standards
• Mask fit testing completed at orientation
• Scrub colors assigned by unit
• References: 2 professional references required
