Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg/Telemetry (Nights)

Location: Waterloo, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Work 36-40 hours per week; overtime billable after 40 hours
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
  • Unit bed size: 130
  • Telemetry readings and drips management including heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, digoxin
  • May float to Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, ICU, and some post-procedural areas
  • Must complete Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with a passing score of 80% during onboarding
  • EMR system used: EPIC

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 24 months of experience in Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, or combined Med/Tele nursing
  • Comfortable and confident reading EKG/ECG including all telemetry-related duties (rhythm strips, dysrhythmia reads)
  • Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification from AHA or equivalent
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA or equivalent
  • Ability to manage drips as listed above
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • De-Escalation Certificate (SAMA, MAB, MOAB, CPI) — can be obtained during onboarding
  • NIH Stroke Scale certificate — can be obtained during onboarding
  • Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of nursing experience; hospital/medical center experience prioritized
  • Orientation dates available
  • Must pass a skills checklist specific to Med Surg/Telemetry discipline
