Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Join a Critical Care Float Pool working weekend night shifts (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 36 hours/week). This role requires flexibility to float across various ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including:
- Neuro ICU
- Surgical ICUs
- Medical ICUs (MICU x2)
- Cardiology/Diagnostics
- CVICU
- SICU / MICU / NCCU
Float Policy: Nurses must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
Certifications & Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
- Unit-specific Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 1 year of start and updated annually)
- State License Verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification for RN license
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be obtained within 1 year of start and renewed every 2 years for certain units)
Background & Health Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check (including FBI and BCI fingerprinting) completed within 90 days of start
- Education accreditation confirmation from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers)
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption allowed)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required, including at least 1 from a manager or formal leadership (charge RN acceptable as second reference)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Annual acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
- Completion of fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate prior to start and updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed using specific state codes and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days
Shift Details
- Weekend shifts only
- 3 shifts per weekend, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
This position offers the opportunity to work across multiple ICU specialties in a dynamic float pool environment, requiring strong critical care skills and flexibility.
