Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years of experience, preferably with Trauma Level 1 experience. The position involves working primarily with adult and geriatric patients in critical care settings.
Work Schedule
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: May be required to float to other units or campuses where qualified
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Extubation experience
- Nasal airway placement experience
- Experience delivering medication through Medihaler and Metered Dose Inhaler
- Experience with handheld nebulizers and trach collar nebulizers
- Experience with trach collar oxygen therapy
- Experience with BiPAP and CPAP
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Additional Requirements
- Must have an active driver’s license for computer access setup and carry ID while on duty
- Must comply with facility call-off policy (allowed 1 call-off shift per 2 weeks)
- Accepts first-time travelers
- Local candidates accepted within radius rules
- All scheduling requests must be approved at booking
Compliance and Documentation
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting as applicable
- Education verification and primary source license verification required
- Drug screening within 1 year and updated annually
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years if working in high-risk areas
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption required annually (not required for 100% remote)
- Other immunizations: Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (vaccination or positive titer)
- Respirator fit test to be completed onsite during orientation
- Completion of online orientation modules and pass/fail testing prior to start
- Annual competencies and training including Core Parts I, II, III covering universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA, and patient safety goals
Notes
- Floating is limited to qualified areas with documented competencies
- Badge photo required prior to start
- Must complete required online modules within 72 hours of assignment
- Pass/fail testing for medication and arrhythmia exams required for RRTs
- Facility prioritizes keeping staff in home unit but agency staff must be flexible to float as needed
