Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Location: Midland, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Description
- Flexible start dates considered (must start on a Monday)
- Minimum contract length: 13 weeks
- Must work one holiday (both evening and day shifts)
- RN will rotate through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition (no post-partum)
Required Certifications
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all clinical positions)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - required for Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby, NICU
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - required for ER, Interventional Radiology, Pediatrics, PACU
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required for ER
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - preferred for Labor & Delivery (Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 10-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace and all locations lived/worked
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- State-specific background checks including Texas DPS Criminal History, Employee Misconduct Registry, and Employability Status Check within 30 days of start
- Education verification and transcript/diploma required
- Drug screening (10-panel negative drug screen within 30 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
- N95 Fit Test within 1 year of start (PAPR not accepted)
- Annual flu vaccination or agency declination required (October 1 - March 31)
- TB screening (negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; chest x-ray if positive)
- Immunizations or positive titers required for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Confidentiality and security agreement, drug screening consent, TB questionnaire, and compliance checklist must be reviewed and signed prior to start
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- General competency exam within 1 year of start
- Age-specific competency exam within 1 year of start
Additional Information
- Two professional references required within 3 years of start
- Resume or employment application required
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgement required and updated annually

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Must be prepared to rotate through multiple Labor and Delivery areas except post-partum
