Physical Therapist - Outpatient (Travel/Contract)

Location: Rio Rico, Arizona

Job Summary

Provide physical therapy evaluation and treatment for various patients, including injured workers. Supervise physical therapy assistants and technicians, perform post-offer testing, work hardening evaluations, ergonomic/job analysis, and maintain communication with referring physicians and rehab nurses. Participate in marketing and community outreach as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients per physician referral or direct access
• Supervise physical therapy assistants and technicians
• Utilize modalities and exercise equipment
• Perform post-offer testing (e.g., WorkSTEPS, APET)
• Conduct Work Hardening and Functional Capacity Evaluations
• Perform ergonomic evaluations and job analysis
• Manage scheduling, referrals, and phone communications
• Understand and apply billing codes for various payers
• Maintain weekly updates with rehab nurses and timely notes for physicians
• Maintain all licensure and professional requirements
• Assist with business development and marketing efforts
• Participate in community events representing the therapy service

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapist license in Arizona
• Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience within the last year

Required Certifications & Documents

• Government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background checks including 7-year work/school history and national databases
• Copy of diploma/transcript
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
• State license verification (primary source)
• Competency exams as applicable (e.g., medication/pharmacology)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Immunization or titer proof for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 1 year
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
• Employment application/resume
• Professional references (2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care)
• Annual skills checklist

Additional Information

• Start date: April 13th (flexible based on license availability)
• Must maintain professional attitude and communication with patients, physicians, insurance reps, and other contacts
• Willingness to perform additional tasks as needed for the good of the therapy service

Prior Travel Experience

• Not required; first-time travel therapists are welcome

This position is ideal for a licensed Physical Therapist with at least 1 year of experience who is interested in a travel contract role in outpatient therapy.
