Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Abilene, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description

• May be asked to float to other campus or floors; flexibility required
• Must live within 150 miles of the facility
• 3 years of experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current NRP certification
• Current AWHONN membership or certification
• Proficient in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)

Compliance and Background Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; must be updated annually
• Education verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma required
• Various state-specific checks including Texas DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry (to be completed within 30 days of start)
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 10 business days prior to start; facility will conduct additional drug screen upon arrival
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
• Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) required and must be updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), with religious or medical exemptions accepted

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (PPD or equivalent)
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)

Additional Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, confidentiality, compliance, patient-centered pledge)
• References: 2 required within 3 years of start
• Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology competency
• Pass/fail testing required for telemetry nurses (if applicable)

Notes

• Orientation modules required, approximately 3-4 hours
• Parking available for orientation and employment with no fee
• Candidate must be flexible to float between units or campuses as needed
