Job Description

• Work on an acute care surgical and bariatric unit
• Schedule: 36/36 (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
• Every other weekend required
• Required to float to other units as needed
• Participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current, valid Registered Nurse license for Tennessee
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as applicable
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)

Compliance & Documentation

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification required
• State license primary source verification
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 14 days of start
• Immunizations and health documents required, including but not limited to:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
  • Hepatitis B series or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
• Respirator medical evaluation and fit testing completed onsite

Additional Information

• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional shifts may be available as overtime, subject to hospital needs
• Photo for badge and various facility-specific forms must be completed within specified timeframes after contract signing

Summary

This travel Registered Nurse position in Medical Surgical offers a 13-week contract with a 36/36 schedule on an acute care surgical and bariatric unit. Candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant RN experience, hold current Tennessee RN licensure, and maintain required certifications including BLS. First-time travelers are welcome. The role includes floating responsibilities and participation in clinical education for nursing students. Compliance with background checks, immunizations, and health screenings is mandatory.
