Location: Albany, New York
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Unit Float: May be required to float to Adult Critical Care and Medical/Surgical floors

Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for performing respiratory therapy procedures, cardio-respiratory diagnostics, and patient assessments under physician direction. The RRT will manage all respiratory care modalities, supervise respiratory therapy technicians, initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures, maintain patient records, and operate respiratory equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate Degree as the minimum educational requirement
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records system

Skills and Abilities

• Strong communication skills in English, including reading, writing, and comprehension.
• Ability to read and interpret physician orders and progress notes.
• Proficient computer skills for navigating electronic medical records.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and simple algebra for medication dosing.
• Adherence to high ethical standards and confidentiality (HIPAA).
• Professional demeanor and accountability for performance.
• Ability to prioritize emergent vs. non-emergent requests and troubleshoot unclear orders.
