Job Description

• Position involves working in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
• Schedule: Five 8-hour shifts per week plus on-call duties.
• Call schedule shared among three CSTs, starting at 3:00 PM and ending at 6:00 AM, including one weekend per month.
• Commitment: 6 months preferred, with the option to start with a 13-week contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of professional services in surgical procedures related to cardiac, vascular, and thoracic cases.
• Scrub functions including pulling necessary supplies and instrumentation, and sterile field setup.
• Ensure sterile procedures are followed, necessary equipment is available, and patient safety is maintained at all times.
• Assist in setup of the CVOR room in coordination with the surgical team.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

• Typical shift hours: 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, or as required.
• On-call required for weekends, evenings, holidays, and off-shifts.
• Must be able to tolerate physically and mentally demanding work.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist.
• Experience working as a CVOR Technologist within the last year.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or certification from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Additional Requirements

• Background check: 7-year criminal history check within one year of start, updated annually.
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 30 days of start.
• Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within the last 12 months.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required.
• COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions must be submitted for review.

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist with strong skills in cardiovascular surgical procedures. The role requires physical stamina, flexibility for call shifts, and adherence to strict sterile and safety protocols. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience and hold the necessary certifications. Prior travel experience is preferred.
