Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: Wichita Falls, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Start date strongly preferred April 6th; may consider April 20th.
  • Schedule: 36/48 hour alternating shifts; facility schedules 84 hours biweekly with a 72-hour guarantee.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of experience required.
    • 3 years preferred.
    • Candidates with 2 years must have experience in a high volume or trauma facility.
    • No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required).

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, and RQI acceptable)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, and RQI acceptable)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, and RQI acceptable)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable)
  • Other certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., NRP, CHEMO, ENPC, EFM) depending on assignment specifics.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum of 2 years Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • TNCC certification.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 1 year of start, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, and sex offender registry.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required (must be current or completed within specified timeframes):
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; exemptions apply)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox)
    • Flu seasonal vaccination or approved exemption
    • COVID-19 vaccination documentation
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year; must have plan to complete within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Required to complete facility-specific documents and orientation prior to start.
  • References: 2 references within 3 years of start.
  • Skills checklist and employment application required; must be updated annually.

Schedule

  • Alternating 36 and 48 hour shifts.
  • Facility guarantees 72 hours biweekly, schedules 84 hours biweekly.

Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements.
  • This position is not open to first-time travel nurses; prior travel experience is mandatory.
  • Experience in high volume or trauma emergency settings is highly preferred.
