Physical Therapist - Rehabilitation Therapy

Job Summary

Provide full-time outpatient and inpatient physical therapy care to patients of all ages and diagnoses within the scope of physical therapy practice in Alaska. Incorporate evidence-based medicine into patient care plans. Demonstrate professional conduct, patient care ethics, and respect for cultural diversity. Modify care plans based on age-specific and patient-specific considerations.

Work Environment

• Hospital-based: Standard physical therapy department with equipment such as hi-lo tables, whirlpools, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation modalities.
• Village-based: Typically limited equipment; therapists bring necessary supplies like theraband and exercise programs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• Licensed in good standing as a Physical Therapist in Alaska, or have completed all appropriate paperwork to work as a Student Physical Therapist post-graduation while preparing for licensure exam.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• No minimum clinical experience required; hospital-based experience is helpful.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret physical therapy literature and medical documentation.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with medical staff, peers, administrative personnel, and culturally diverse patients, some of whom may not speak English.
• Computer literacy including basic MS Office programs, email, and internet research for medical literature.
• Basic math skills and problem-solving abilities relevant to patient care and documentation.

• Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccinations required.
