Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina

Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for night shifts in a short-term acute care, Level III Trauma Center and teaching hospital. The role requires working nights, weekends, and holidays with floating between like units as needed. The position involves caring for both adult and pediatric patients in the ICU.
Key Details
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule applies)
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return to Travel Policy: Must be off assignment for 1 year to return as a traveler
- Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be off for 6 months before returning
- Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; otherwise, contracted shifts are guaranteed
- Time Off: Only 4 days allowed off and no holidays off during assignment
- Patient Population: Must be comfortable working with both adults and children in ICU settings
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
Required Certifications & Competencies
- State Respiratory Therapist License (valid and not expiring the month of start)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Military only; must be renewed if expiring the month of start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Military only; must be renewed if expiring the month of start
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for certain units; must be renewed if expiring the month of start
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for specific units; must be renewed if expiring the month of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – Must be completed via Relias and renewed annually; minimum passing score 80%
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – Required for awareness; candidates have 3 attempts to pass with remediation required after failures
- NIH Stroke Certification – Must be updated annually
Required Background & Health Documents
- Background Check: Required within 6 months of start; includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Immunizations/Vaccines:
- TDAP within last 10 years (no declinations accepted for new candidates)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines required)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines required)
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted)
- Flu vaccine required year-round; medical or religious exemptions require facility approval
- TB Screening: Negative PPD, Q Gold, or T-spot within 1 year; chest x-ray if positive PPD within 5 years
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but documentation accepted if available
Additional Requirements
- Must provide a professional passport-style photo for badge issuance
- Must complete facility-specific forms and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., confidentiality agreement, emergency contact, code of conduct)
- Must comply with facility appearance standards (scrub color: solid black or black and white)
- Charting system used: Epic
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced ICU environment with both adult and pediatric patients
- Floating between units as needed within scope of practice
Scheduling & Work Environment
- Night shifts with weekend and holiday coverage required
- Floating between like units required
- Call-offs require makeup shifts as deemed necessary by the department
- Limited time off allowed during assignment
