Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)
Location: Edmonds, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, OB Triage, Antepartum, and Normal Newborn units.
- Float to other units as needed.
- Patient diagnoses include Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, OB Triage, Antepartum, and Normal Newborn care.
- Perform special procedures such as:
- Vaginal and Cesarean deliveries
- Circulating in the OR
- Starting adult IVs
- Administering blood and blood products
- Managing drains, epidural pumps, and PCA pumps
- Administering insulin and magnesium sulfate
- Work with special equipment related to high-risk antepartum, L&D, LDRP, OB-GYN, and perioperative care.
- Provide couplet care (mother and newborn).
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn care.
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
- Experience in LDRP (Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum).
- Ability to float to other units as needed.
Required Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring).
- FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring).
- AWHONN Intermediate (preferred).
Required Skills
- Circulating in the OR.
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM).
- IV start.
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Staffing Ratio
- 1:1 to 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
License Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Washington State.
- Compact license accepted for Washington.
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required.
Additional Requirements
- Must be separated from any previous permanent employment with the health system for at least 3 months to qualify for this travel position.
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other nearby facilities.
- Background checks, drug screening, and health documents (including immunizations and physical exam) must be current and compliant.
- Completion of required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules prior to start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask testing required for travel nurses.
- Immunizations required: TDAP, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), Flu vaccine (or declination), COVID vaccine (or declination).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Drug screen (10 panel) within 90 days of start.
- References: Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
Important Notes
- Candidates must complete all required background checks and verifications, including education verification and state-specific searches.
- Required to complete electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) training or certification.
- Must complete all assigned WorkRamp training modules relevant to specialty and region.
- Passport-style badge photo required.
- Must comply with all state and facility-specific credentialing and compliance requirements.
