Registered Nurse - PCU Float

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Overview

Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
Float required to all Medical-Surgical (MS), MS/Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) units within the hospital
Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- PCU: 1:4-5
- MS, MS Telemetry: 1:5-6
Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum: 7 days
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (approximately 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
Floating: Required
Call: None
Holiday Work: If one major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if two, expected to work both; if three, expected to work two.
Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
Minimum of 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing experience
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

Floating across multiple units is mandatory
Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
Locals accepted at the same rate
Orientation hours vary based on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
No call requirements

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience who is comfortable floating across PCU and Medical-Surgical units, proficient with Epic, and holds current BLS and ACLS certifications.
