Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Summary

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and/or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience. This role requires working in a pediatric acute care setting with exposure to emergency department (ED), level 1 trauma, pediatric critical care, and general pediatrics.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
• Respiratory Care Practitioner experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience working with Pediatric patients
• Experience working with Neonate patients

Work Schedule & Hours

• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend

Skills & Experience

• Required experience in NICU and/or PICU
• Experience in emergency department and level 1 trauma facility preferred
• Pediatric critical care and general pediatrics experience required

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Education verification of highest related degree required
• Drug testing within 1 year, must include standard panels
• Physical exam within 1 year
• Fit mask testing required and must be on file by end of first week
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (two negative PPDs or equivalent)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Annual compliance training and HIPAA acknowledgment required
• Various state-specific background and registry checks as applicable

Additional Requirements

• Unit-specific competency exams required annually, including pediatric and NICU pharmacology exams
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
• Skills checklist specific to unit required within 1 year of start
• Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
• Must adhere to dress code, hand hygiene, and fingernail policies
• Required to complete facility-specific orientation and training modules unless otherwise noted
