Job Opportunity: Cardio-thoracic ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Cardio-thoracic ICU
- Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Weekend Requirement: Yes (unless schedule states otherwise)
- Floating: Yes, within ICU units only
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Pending License Accepted: Yes
- First-timers: No (prior travel experience required)
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Travel Experience: Required (must have prior travel experience)
- Block Schedule: Not open to block scheduling unless otherwise stated
- RTO Restrictions: 7 days off in Nov/Dec can include 1 holiday; must work 2 of 3 holidays
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with pulmonary artery (PA) lines
Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Washington State or compact license with Washington compliance
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 9-12 months of start (N95 or PAPR as applicable)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (2 vaccines or titer; history of disease not accepted at this facility)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination with waiver)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination with education module completion
- COVID vaccination or declination documentation for tracking
- 10-panel drug screen within one year of start (required by agency)
Background Checks & Documentation
- 7-year criminal background check including nationwide, sex offender, and state-specific searches
- Education verification or diploma/transcript for RN licensure
- Various state and federal exclusion lists (OIG, SAM, EPLS/GSA)
- Photo ID for badge (professional DMV-style photo required)
- Facility-specific agreements and checklists to be completed prior to start
Additional Notes
- EPIC electronic health record system used for charting
- Magnet and teaching hospital environment
- Parking available at a daily cost
- Candidates must complete suicide prevention training if using a multi-state license from outside Washington
- Performance evaluations requested at assignment end (facility-specific)
This position is ideal for experienced Cardio-thoracic ICU RNs with prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment in a high-acuity ICU setting.
