Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts (06:30 AM - 07:00 PM)
Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per contract
On-Call: Yes, rotating call as needed with staff and agency
Job Summary
Seeking a Cath Lab Tech with experience in Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath labs. This role requires hands-on procedural skills and the ability to work in a Level I trauma acute care hospital setting.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Cath Lab
- First-time travel Cath Lab Techs accepted
- Required procedural skills include:
- Cardiac Implant Closure Device
- Cardiac Stent Placement
- Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
- IABP Placement/Removal
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Left and Right heart catheterization
- Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
- Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
- Rotablader athrectomy
- Scrub procedures
- Equipment setup and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
- Infection control skills: Isolation precautions and sterile technique
- Age-specific competencies: Middle and Older Adult patients
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system required
Certifications & Licenses Required
- Active state license (no pending licenses accepted)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
Work Environment & Additional Details
- No IR (Interventional Radiology) duties
- No floating outside scope of practice
- Locals accepted with no radius restrictions
- Call frequency flexible and coordinated with manager
- Scrub color and parking permit provided (no cost for parking)
- Must be able to work within Return to Office restrictions (ideally no more than 5 days off)
- Guaranteed hours with some allowance for client call-offs
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid US Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Primary source verification of certifications and licenses
- Physical exam within one year of start, including labs and immunizations (TB, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine or approved exemption)
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
- Illinois-specific fingerprinting and registry requirements (must be completed in Illinois)
- References: 2 professional references required
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Badge photo required prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific documents such as code of conduct and parking permit forms
Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification
- ARRT certification
- Experience with Cardiac Implant Closure Device
- Experience with Cardiac Stent Placement
- Experience with Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
- Experience with IABP Placement and Removal
- Experience with Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Experience with Left heart catheterization
- Experience with Right heart catheterization
- Experience with Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
- Experience with Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
- Experience with Rotablator atherectomy
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system
