Job Opportunity: RN PCU

Location: Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)

Unit Overview

• Unit Capacity: 36 beds
• Patient Population: Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Patient Conditions Include:

  • Continuous BiPAP
  • Low-dose vasopressors
  • Trauma patients
  • Lumbar drains
  • CIWA patients on higher doses of Ativan
  • Hyponatremia
  • Emergency dialysis patients
  • Hyperkalemia
  • Antifreeze ingestions
  • Home ventilators (tracheostomies)
  • Sheath removal
  • Carotid endarterectomy (CEA)
  • Rhabdomyolysis
  • Precedex administration
  • Stroke patients with Q2 neuro checks
  • Stable craniotomies
  • Fentanyl drips
• Patient Age Range: Young Adult through Late Adult (18 - 60+)
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 3:1

Staffing

• Core staffing includes Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)
• An RN assumes full responsibility for patients on each team

Required Certifications & Skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AHA)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (AHA)
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
• Successful completion of a cardiac rhythm test
• Passing score of at least 80% on unit-specific EKG exam (two attempts allowed)
• Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics (minimum 80% passing score)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

• Onsite onboarding and training required
• Completion of electronic health record (EHR) system test and training
• Unit-specific checklists and competencies to be completed and maintained
• Professional photo (headshot) required for badge

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of PCU experience within the last year
• Prior travel experience: Not required

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable managing complex PCU patients with a variety of acute and chronic conditions in a fast-paced environment.
