Registered Nurse - Med Surg Telemetry / Oncology
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience in high acuity Medical-Surgical Telemetry or higher. Oncology experience is preferred but not required. The role involves floating between Med Surg and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Oncology units, including specialties such as Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), Acute Leukemia, Hematology, Medical Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, Urology, Colorectal, Surgical Oncology, and Corrections Healthcare.
Work Details
- Staffing ratios:
- PCU: 1:3 (can be 1:4 with mixed acuity)
- Med Surg Telemetry: ideally 1:4, can be 1:5
- Shift: 12-hour day/night rotating shifts; schedule may include days, nights, or a combination based on unit needs.
- Orientation: First week is Monday-Friday day shift, followed by five bedside orientation shifts between weeks 2 and 3, then independent practice.
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling requests are submitted and balanced before final schedule posting. No set/blocked scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Med Surg / Telemetry, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

- Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention.
- Floating across multiple oncology-related units with specialized patient populations.
- No prior travel experience explicitly required.
