Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Tele Nights

Location: Belleville, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1845-0715)
  • Start Date: Rolling starts every 3-4 weeks based on compliance tier
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Guaranteed Hours:
    • 36 hours/week for 3 shifts
    • 48 hours/week for 4 shifts
  • Floating: Float within service line as needed for support
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
  • On-Call: No on-call requirements
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return to Office Restrictions: 7 days within 13-week contract

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
  • Ortho experience required, including proficiency in ortho totals and fractures
  • Heavy lifting required
  • First-time travelers accepted

Required Certifications

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) – Required
  • NIH Stroke Certification – Preferred
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI/MAB) – check unit-specific requirements

Licensure

  • Must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Illinois
  • Temporary licenses are not accepted; permanent Illinois license required for assignment extension

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Government-issued ID required
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required
  • State-specific exclusion and sanction list checks for Illinois
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete facility-specific orientation modules and training quizzes annually
  • Must review and sign facility policies including HIPAA, hand hygiene, dress code, fingernail, and latex allergy policies
  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
  • Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually
  • Candidates must provide a recent badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions)

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Orthopedics experience, including proficiency in ortho totals and fractures

  • Acute Care Hospital setting
  • Magnet designated facility
  • Total staffed beds: 222
  • Charting system: EPIC
  • Parking: Free

Notes

  • This position requires physical stamina including heavy lifting
  • Floating may be required within the service line to support other units
  • Candidates must be prepared to comply with all background, health, and competency requirements prior to start
