Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Belleville, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details

  • Shift: Days
  • Start Date: Biweekly starts, 3-4 weeks per compliance tier
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, 3 out of 6 weeks schedule
  • On-Call: No
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to IMCU and ICU units
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return to Office Restrictions: 7 days within 13-week contract
  • Guaranteed Hours:
    • 36 hours/week for 3-12 hour shifts
    • 48 hours/week for 4-12 hour shifts

Special Requirements / Skills

  • Assist with line insertion and intubation
  • Hypothermia protocols
  • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) / Continuous Venovenous Hemodialysis (CVVHD)
  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI, MAB) — verify per unit specifics

Required Licenses

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Primary source verification required

Additional Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
  • Criminal background check within 6 months (including statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (quarterly)
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments in long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (annual renewal required)
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with yearly questionnaire)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, hand hygiene, dress code, and latex allergy questionnaire (all updated annually)
  • Competency exams and unit-specific skills checklists (updated annually)
  • References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)

Notes

  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment.
  • Candidates must be willing to float within ICU and IMCU units as needed.
  • Weekend work is required on a rotating schedule.
  • Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted.
  • All certifications and background checks must be current and verifiable prior to start.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience assisting with line insertion and intubation
  • Knowledge and experience with hypothermia protocols
  • Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Continuous Venovenous Hemodialysis (CVVHD)
  • Experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
