Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Tele Nights
Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Unit: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) Nights
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in MS/Telemetry
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- First-time travelers accepted
- Floating: May be required to float within scope to similar units
- Block scheduling: Open to accommodation
- Locals not accepted (50-mile radius rule applies)
- On-call: Not required
- Pending license: Not accepted
- Return Staff Policy: Must be away for 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Contract Limit: Maximum 2 contracts (one extension allowed), then must be off for 6 months before returning
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Military only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Military only
- NIH Stroke Certification (updated annually)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina (must be current and not expiring the month of start)
Additional Requirements
- Background check within 6 months of start (including SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable)
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by a physician, NP, or PA-C
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days
- Immunizations and titers:
- TDAP vaccine within last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines required)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines required)
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted)
- Flu vaccine required year-round; medical or religious exemptions require facility approval
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required but documentation is accepted if available
Competency and Testing
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required and must be renewed annually
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) with up to 3 attempts; remediation required after failed attempts
Scheduling and Work Conditions
- Guaranteed hours with a call-off policy of 2 shifts per 13-week assignment
- Must comply with facility policies including professional appearance and confidentiality agreements
- Photo for badge required prior to start (passport-style, professional)
- Must complete facility-specific forms and acknowledgments before start
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required
- Floating between like units may be necessary
- Weekend work every other weekend is mandatory
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with at least 2 years in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry who are comfortable working nights and weekends in a fast-paced acute care setting.
