Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Tele – Clinical Decision Unit

Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a 26-week travel contract in a Clinical Decision Unit specializing in Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele). This is a short-term acute care setting with a teaching hospital environment.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 18 months of telemetry/acute care experience required; 2 years preferred
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience is required
  • Strong experience with vasoactive drips is a must
  • First-time travel nurses are accepted

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12-hour shifts or 40 hours for 8/10-hour shifts
  • Floating required within scope to multiple nearby hospitals (within 20 miles)
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Smoke-free facility; nicotine-free requirement with drug screening

Certifications & Licenses Required

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (must have at time of submission)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (must obtain prior to start)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Florida (pending licenses not accepted)

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete time-sensitive online training modules prior to start
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine test required
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start date
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history and federal exclusions
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
  • Two professional references within 2 years required

Notes for Candidates

  • Must be nicotine-free; no exceptions
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone
  • Candidates with a break of more than 6 months between assignments at this facility will need to re-orient
  • Floating to other hospitals within 20 miles is required as part of the assignment

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 18 months of telemetry/acute care experience
  • Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) experience totaling at least 1.5 years, including experience within the last year
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
  • Strong experience with vasoactive drips
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
