Job Details

Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC required
- NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)
- Other preferred certifications:
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) preferred
- Chemotherapy certification preferred for oncology units
Required Licensure
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license for Michigan
- License verification must be run within 30 days prior to start
Required Documents & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or government photo ID
- Background checks including:
- 7-year county, national criminal, federal checks
- SSN trace, FACIS Level 3, OFAC, SAM.gov, National Sex Offender Registry
- Education verification (minimum education requirement must be met)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (for travel agency compliance)
- Fit mask test (N95 required; PAPRs accepted with approval) within 1 year prior to start
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Fingerprinting required for Behavioral Health units (not applicable for PCU)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
- Minimum of 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with 80% pass rate, updated annually
- Skills checklist current within the last year and updated annually
- Employment application including last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Photo for badge (passport style, shoulders up, solid white or beige background)
- Confidentiality and security obligations acknowledgment
- Orientation welcome attestation form
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
- Floating within scope is expected to meet facility needs.
- Weekend work is required every other weekend.
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of PCU experience who is flexible with floating and weekend shifts, and who meets all licensure and certification requirements.
