Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7 PM - 7:30 AM), totaling 36 hours per week
Estimated patient ratios: Not available
May be required to float to other units

Required Experience and Skills

Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required

Required Certifications

BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Required Licenses

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio

Background and Compliance Requirements

7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and state fingerprinting (BCI)
Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
Monthly monitoring through federal exclusion lists (EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG)
Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and no contagious disease
Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) vaccine (adult dose)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination accepted)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Competency and Testing Requirements

Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start
Unit-specific competency exam
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (exceptions apply)

Additional Requirements

2 professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership role
Employment application and skills checklist required
Annual acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
