Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Float

Location: Wichita Falls, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Support Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and float to overflow areas including Emergency Department (ED) for patient holds.
• Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks.
• Scheduled for 84 hours biweekly with a 72-hour guarantee.
• Must be agreeable to a 36/48 alternating schedule.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, with PCU experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy certification).
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring).
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course).
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale).

Required Certifications & Compliance

• Physical Exam (within 1 year)
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • TDAP (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or history)
  • Flu vaccine (seasonal requirement with possible medical/religious exemption)
  • COVID vaccination documentation
• Drug Testing (negative 9-panel within 1 year)
• Background Check (within 1 year)
• Various competency exams and safety acknowledgments as applicable.

Additional Requirements

• Must submit references (2 within last 3 years).
• Complete employment application and skills checklist.
• Agree to facility-specific policies and orientation requirements.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Flexible float role covering PCU and ED overflow.
• 36/48 hour alternating shifts.
• Start date within 3-5 weeks preferred.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with prior travel experience looking for a short-term contract in Texas with a dynamic float role.
