OR Tech / Surgical Tech Travel Contract

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (12:45 PM - 9:15 PM)
• Average Daily Census: 50-60 cases per day
• Weekend Requirement: Yes, approximately once a month (16 hours total)
• On-Call: Yes, as needed for the department
• Floating: May float within scope of practice to meet facility needs
• Locals Accepted: No, must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• Block Schedule: Possible with manager approval
• Scrub Color: Provided
• Charting System: Cerner
• Parking: Permit required, no cost

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid Surgical Technologist license in Illinois
• Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 3 years of experience
• Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification
• Clinical skills including:

  • Direct Laryngoscopy
  • Radial neck dissection
  • Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
  • Tracheostomy
  • Colonoscopy
  • EGD
  • PEG tube placement/exchange
  • Appendectomy
  • Colon resection (Open and Laparoscopic)
  • Hernia repair (inguinal and umbilical)

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS: Required
• CST: Preferred
• License: No license required for this role

Additional Requirements

• Must be physically present in Illinois 3 business days prior to start for fingerprinting (must be done in-state)
• Background checks and various state-specific screenings required within 30 days of start
• Physical exam required within one year of start
• Drug screening (9-panel) required within 30 days of start
• Immunizations and health documentation required (including TB test, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccination or exemption)
• References: 2 professional references required
• Competency exam required

Notes

• Guaranteed hours may be subject to client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for cancelled hours
• All time off must be approved by manager
• Fingerprinting and Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry compliance mandatory
• Must comply with facility safety and orientation requirements

This position is ideal for experienced OR Techs/Surgical Techs with strong trauma and teaching hospital experience who are open to travel assignments and meet the specified clinical skills and certification requirements.
