Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (L&D RN)

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse with recent experience in L&D. This is a travel contract position with virtual interviews available.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
    • FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Work Schedule & Orientation

  • Weekends required every 5th weekend
  • Floating to Postpartum unit as needed
  • Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
  • Scrub color: Royal Blue

Candidate Preferences

  • First-time travelers are welcome with 2 years of experience
  • Local candidates within 75 miles considered

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background checks including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, and education verification
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen (including THC) within 30 days of start
  • Health documents: Physical exam (within 12 months), immunizations (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap, Polio), TB testing, and seasonal flu vaccination
  • References: Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (one must be a supervisor)
  • Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
  • Facility-specific onboarding documents and competency exams required

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must set up a facility guest account prior to clearance
  • Flu vaccine is mandatory with no exemptions allowed
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete required online modules and competency checklists within specified timeframes after start
  • Floating to postpartum unit may be required
