Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse
Location: Odessa, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Critical Care Registered Nurse (ICU)
- Preferred start date: Within the next 3-5 weeks
- Must be willing to float to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry, Emergency Room (for critical care holds)
Required Certifications & Training
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA accepted
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or TCAR
- NIH Stroke Certification (6 hours total stroke education; can be provided if needed)
- EKG course completion (can be provided if needed)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Chemotherapy (CHEMO) certification
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- National Tech Certification Verification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication/Pharmacology)
- State License 1 Verification
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government issued photo ID
- I-9 or attestation
- Background check (7-year, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender) within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or equivalent required)
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TDAP (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year; chest X-ray for positive responders)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccination)
- Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct-April)
- COVID initial series or facility-specific declination
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, safety, HIPAA, and compliance training modules within 72 hours of contract signing
- Pass/fail testing on EKG and medication/pharmacology competency exams
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references within 3 years
- Resume or employment application copy
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing for RNs
- Must complete facility-specific documents such as standards of conduct, dress code policy, agency checklist, standards of behavior, COVID declination (if applicable), and orientation forms
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Floating to other units (MS/Telemetry, ER) is expected.
- Stroke education and EKG courses can be provided if the candidate does not already have them.
