Job Description

• Position: Critical Care Registered Nurse (ICU)
• Preferred start date: Within the next 3-5 weeks
• Must be willing to float to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry, Emergency Room (for critical care holds)

Required Certifications & Training

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA accepted
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or TCAR
• NIH Stroke Certification (6 hours total stroke education; can be provided if needed)
• EKG course completion (can be provided if needed)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Chemotherapy (CHEMO) certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
• National Tech Certification Verification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication/Pharmacology)
• State License 1 Verification
• NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government issued photo ID
• I-9 or attestation
• Background check (7-year, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender) within 30 days of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or equivalent required)
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • TDAP (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year; chest X-ray for positive responders)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer or vaccination)
  • Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct-April)
  • COVID initial series or facility-specific declination
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Completion of facility-specific orientation, safety, HIPAA, and compliance training modules within 72 hours of contract signing
• Pass/fail testing on EKG and medication/pharmacology competency exams

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references within 3 years
• Resume or employment application copy
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing for RNs
• Must complete facility-specific documents such as standards of conduct, dress code policy, agency checklist, standards of behavior, COVID declination (if applicable), and orientation forms

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Floating to other units (MS/Telemetry, ER) is expected.
• Stroke education and EKG courses can be provided if the candidate does not already have them.

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with critical care experience seeking a travel contract in Texas with a 13-week commitment.
