Description

Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • May be assigned to an "Emergency Team" during emergency events, requiring staying at the facility until the event passes or joining a relief team.
  • Patient diagnoses include migraines, seizures, chest pain, spinal abscesses, multiple sclerosis, upper respiratory infections, post spinal surgery, and post stroke care.
  • Patient ratio expected: 1:4 or 1:5.
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers.
  • Epic electronic health record experience required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Additional Information

  • Weekends coverage: every other weekend (4 weekends per 13-week contract).
  • Employment application and skills checklist required, with explanation for any employment gaps.
  • Must be comfortable with emergency event assignments as described.

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
