Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse
Location: Odessa, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Critical Care Registered Nurse position
- 36 or 48 hours per week considered
- Preferred start date within the next 3-5 weeks
- Must be willing to float to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry, Emergency Room (for critical care holds)
Required Certifications & Training
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, and RQI acceptable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, and RQI acceptable)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or TCAR
- NIH Stroke Certification
- 6 hours total of Stroke education (can be provided if needed)
- EKG course completion (can be provided if needed)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP certification
- CHEMO certification
- TNCC certification
- EFM certification
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 30 days of start; must be updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Drug screening (10-panel negative drug screen within 30 days of start)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or equivalent required)
- Annual TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Oct-April)
- COVID initial series or facility-specific declination required (annual boosters not required)
Competency & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (passing score needed)
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge during orientation (3 attempts allowed)
- Orientation and safety training modules must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
- HIPAA and Fair Warning quiz modules required within 72 hours of signing contract
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references within the last 3 years
- Resume or employment application copy required
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements required prior to start and updated if there is a gap of more than 30 days between assignments

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Floating to other units is mandatory as part of the role
