Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Float
Location: Wichita Falls, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing support primarily in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and float to overflow areas including Emergency Department (ED) for patient holds.
- Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks.
- Scheduled for 84 hours biweekly with a 72-hour guarantee.
- Must be agreeable to a 36/48 alternating schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP certification
- CHEMO certification
- TNCC certification
- EFM certification
- National Tech Cert Verification
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- ENPC certification
- State License 1 Verification
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Background check within 1 year, including SS Trace, County searches, Nationwide, and Sex Offender registry.
- E-Verify or attestation.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing).
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; exemptions apply for candidates born before 1957).
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination).
- Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox).
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (with possible medical/religious exemptions).
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (instant acceptable).
- References: 2 references within 3 years of start.
- Resume or employment application required.
- Annual updates for skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be flexible to float between PCU, ED, and overflow units as needed.
- Must be able to work the specified alternating schedule (36 hours on, 48 hours off).
- Compliance with all facility-specific policies and documentation prior to start is mandatory.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with critical care environments and flexible scheduling, who have prior travel experience or are open to travel assignments.
